The holiday season is now in full force. And hopefully you are busy making memories with the ones you care about the most. With all those great memories, you are going to need a way to document those memories and keep them forever. Today I will discuss some ways to document your holidays. I will note you can either do this during the holidays or afterward when things are a littler slower and less hectic.

December Daily

I think this is the one that started it all. Created by Ali Edwards, she takes December, usually until Christmas Day, to create an album that documents each day with a single story. This idea has sort of exploded across the scrapping community. You can either scrap a traditional page or pocket style pages. You can also do a physical or digital album. I would highly recommend Traci’s Pocket Life Holiday Collection whether you do traditional or pocket. TIP: Whether traditional or pocket style, pick one or two templates for your whole album and just re-use them. It will add to continuity and unity of the album and make it quicker to scrap.

Holiday Faves

Another great and different way to scrap the holidays, this one is from Lynette Penacho aka Nettio Designs. This is a way to scrap that does not require daily stories or photos. Instead, you scrap about some of your favorite things about the holidays. Again this can be physical or digital, pocket or traditional style. I think Holiday faves is a great ideas for scrapping traditions, favorite holiday movies. It is also great for those who feel don’t want to scrap a daily story but still want a holiday album. TIP: keep a list of your holiday faves at ready so you will be ready for pictures when the chance comes up.

Project Life

The one that started pocket scrapping for everyone. Just remember because the holidays are here doesn’t mean you have to document them as the holidays. If you already have a yearly project going, just keep using that to document your holidays. There is no rulebook that says the holidays need a project of your own. TIP: Create weekly or daily pocket pages to celebrate the holidays. Find out what layout works for your memories.

Final Tips:

  • Pick a format that works for you are your life. There are no rules for scrapping a memory keeping, so don’t feel the pressure to do what everyone else is doing.
  • Decide what memories you want to scrap and keep a list handy of the photos so you are ready when the moment happens. But keep flexible.
  • Enjoy your holidays! It is more about making memories than recording them. So have some fun this holiday and don’t stress out!

Here are some layouts I have created over the years for the holidays using Traci’s products:
