5 Great Tips for The Busy Scrapper

I love scrapping but the rest of my life keeps me from scrapping as much as I want to.  So I have to make the most of  the time that I do get to scrap.  Here are 5 tips to get scrapping, get pages done, and get on with the rest of your busy life.

  1. Tag/Save your favorite photos in one place.  I find the hardest thing to do when scrapping is picking out my photos.  I have thousands of photos to shift through in my organizing program and when I am in a rush to scrap, I can get paralyzed looking for photos.  So now, I have a special album that I keep all the photos I might want to scrap with.  So when I get time to scrap, I go there first to find photos.
  2. Organize your supplies.  Much like with photos, you don’t want to waste time digging through your supplies for that particular kit you want to use.  So find an organizational system that works for you and stick with it!  I personally use Picasa and I tag my previews with store name, designer name if it is a CT, and keywords.  It makes it so much easier to find things.
  3. Use a template.  This is the one tip that everyone says when you are trying to scrap quickly.  But it totally works.  Grab a template and you can use it two ways.  1)  Use as is or 2) Delete all the elements and just use the paper and photo placement.  I have lately been loving the second way as a fresh way to use my favorite templates.
  4. Do a Project Life page. Let’s say even a template is going to take too long…go for a Project Life/pocket style page.  Grab one of Traci’s Pocket Life Collections and you could get several pages done in a short amount of time.  If you are minimalist, this tip is right up your alley.
  5. Leave the new techniques for another day.  I love trying new techniques and scrapping trends but when I am in a hurry that is not the time I use new techniques.  I use my standard shadow set and I leave the complicated shadowing, cutting, etc. for another day.  I am not saying new things but wait until you have plenty of time for trial and error.  Nothing is worse than being in a rush and getting frustrated when things are not working out for you.

And there are my 5 tips for scrapping while balancing a busy life.  What are your tips for scrapping in a short amount of time?  Share in the comments below.
